BAR Technologies has reached a major milestone in maritime sustainability, receiving Type Approval Design Certificate from Bureau Veritas for its 37.5m WindWings propulsion system

The certification affirms WindWings’ readiness for global fleet integration, highlighting its engineering integrity, reliability and commercial viability.

WindWings uses a patented three-element rigid wingsail that reportedly generates 2.5 times the lift of traditional designs, achieving fuel savings of 1.5 tonnes and CO₂ reductions of 4.7 tonnes per day.
