This year’s programme features plenary sessions which the whole audience can attend. Throughout the programme delegates will also have the opportunity to choose between attending parallel sessions focused on either the fuels industry or the propulsion industry.

Understanding the future fuels mix – this session includes speakers such as Martin Wold, a senior Consultant at DNV GL who will be speaking about their Alternative Fuels Insight, and Gunnar Helmen, the Marine Sales Manager at Skangas who will provide an overview of availability and price development.

Motorship Award presentations – The Motorship Award Entrants will discuss their cutting-edge projects and after 4 presentations, delegates will be invited to vote for their favourite on day two of the conference. The winner will be announced by The Motorship Editor, Gavin Lipsith, and is followed by a networking coffee break, so you have a chance to talk to this year’s winner.


Parallel sessions centred on fuels or propulsion include:

Propulsion: Engine design for the future – this session includes presentations from two-stroke and four-stroke engine developers who will discuss cutting edge engine design in light of environmental and performance challenges. Speakers in this session include MAN Diesel & Turbo.

Fuels: Shipping’s gas fuelled future – a panel discussion covering the technical developments refining LNG-powered shipping and introducing other gas fuels to the mix. Panellists include; ABS, TGE Marine and Trelleborg Oil & Marine.

Propulsion: Electric avenues – this session will assess the opportunities for energy storage and electric propulsion in the ocean-going merchant fleet. Speakers include Jan-Erik Räsänen, Head of New Technologies, Foreship and Geir Bjørkeli, CEO, Corvus Energy

Fuels: ULSFO: the new standard? How much do we know about this and how can ship owners prepare for a relatively unknown fuel? Our speakers discuss; Michael Green, Global Technical Manager, Intertek ShipCare Services and Wolfram Guntermann, Director Environmental Management, Hapag-Lloyd AG.
