Software fixes twin propeller vibration issue

Raw measured vibration data showing the frequency beating phenomenon, with vibration acceleration in m/s2 in the y-axis and time in second in the x-axis.

An ABS technical investigation, conducted at the request of a prominent Greek-based operator of LNG carriers, identified occasional, but infrequent, vibrations exceeding limits on a twin propeller LNG carrier fitted with super-efficient three-bladed propellers. The issue was resolved in conjunction with the vessel’s classification society, engine designer and the shipyard.
