Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has announced plans to develop specialised robots for shipbuilding, aiming to strengthen its technological capabilities and maintain competitiveness in the sector.

The company signed a memorandum of understanding with Rainbow Robotics to collaborate on the development and commercialisation of shipbuilding robots. The partnership will begin with the creation of AI-assisted welding robots based on collaborative robot technology, with future work to include mobile dual-arm robots and quadruped robots.
