MAN ME-GA engines specified for NYK LNGC newbuildings

MAN Energy Solutions has confirmed that an order for MAN B&W ME-GA engines has been placed in connection with an order for a series of 4 × 174,000 cbm. LNG carriers placed by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), the major Japanese shipping company.

The order for 4 × 2 × 5G70ME-GA Mk. 10.5 engines represents the first time that NYK, one of the world’s largest owners and operators of LNG carriers has specified ME-GA low-pressure engines for LNG carriers. All eight engines will feature MAN Energy Solutions’ proprietary EGRBP (Exhaust Gas Recirculation ByPass) emissions-reduction technology.
