ABS and KRISO sign MoU for SMR technology

ABS and the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on applying small modular reactor (SMR) technology within the marine and offshore industries.

The agreement provides a framework for information exchange and joint research between the two organisations, focusing on concept designs for both an SMR-powered vessel and a floating SMR-based power generation platform. The partnership also aims to identify and develop relevant regulatory guidelines and international standards to support the safe and practical use of nuclear technologies at sea.
