Yanmar Power, a subsidiary of Yanmar, has announced that it has completed the first delivery of its new hydrogen fuel-cell system. The system was supplied to a 33-metre long passenger vessel Hanaria, which was launched in September. The vessel is expected to be delivered by Hongawara Shipyard by April 2024.

Hurtigruten ESS and engine retrofit delivers 23% CO2 emissions cut
Norwegian ferry and cruise operator Hurtigruten has achieved a 23% reduction in CO2 emissions on its 121-metre passenger vessel MS Richard With in the first year of service after the conclusion of a retrofit programme. The extensive retrofit by Kongsberg Maritime saw the vessel’s engines replaced with low-emission Bergen engines and the installation of 2.24MWh capacity battery pack.

Vard, one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of specialised vessels, has ordered 4 × MAN 12V175D-MEM gensets in connection with the building of a new purpose-built, cable-laying vessel (CLV) for NCT Offshore, a Denmark-based subsea specialist. The gensets will form part of the vessel’s diesel-electric DP2 propulsion system, which also includes a hybrid battery package.
