The CMDC Round 4 is part of a suite of interventions launched by the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE). The aim of this competition is to fund real world demonstrations, trials and feasibility studies into clean maritime technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    Bureau Veritas (BV) has granted an approval in principle (AIP) for the design for a 150,000 cbm liquefied hydrogen (LH2) carrier and an AiP for the design of a cryogenic membrane containment system for liquefied hydrogen (LH2) developed by GTT. The certificates were presented at the Hyvolution Summit 2024 trade show in Paris on 31 January 2024.

    UK announces awards fourth round of clean maritime funding

    The British government awarded USD42 million (£33 million) towards a number of maritime green technology projects on Friday 26 January. The funding was awarded as part of the fourth round of the government’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC4) to a number of ports and ship projects, encompassing a range of clean maritime technologies including electric, hydrogen, ammonia, methanol and wind power.

    First renewable LNG bunker project set to proceed in Oman

    Carnival inks 12-month extension of performance based agreement with Wärtsilä

    Carnival Corporation has signed a one-year extension to its Performance based agreement with Wärtsilä, which has been in place since 2017. The agreement, which was due to expire in March 2029, will now be valid until March 2030. It covers the maintenance, technical support, optimisation and fuel saving solutions for 57 cruise ships within the global Carnival Corporation fleet. The contract was signed in October 2023.

    WinGD is expecting to secure the majority of dual-fuel engine orders for LNG carriers being built in the second phase of QatarEnergy’s newbuilding project. With initial engine and technical specifications confirmed for nearly half of the orders in the second round, WinGD’s X-DF2.0 engines are already the preferred choice to be installed on most vessels.
