Using an abundant, if toxic, resource to power the maritime fleet. A mature future fuel already in use - but will it become dominant? LNG is currently the most popular lower carbon fuel, but with bio and e-LNG it could move beyond its current transition fuel status supported by extensive existing infrastructure. Numerous NGOs protested against the IMO earlier this year putting biofuels in its Global Fuel Standard, but the “fuel versus food” debate seems to have been solved by deriving fuels from waste. DDW tackles challenging conversion
Drydocks World has entered the livestock carrier conversion sector with a $60 million order from Saudi Arabian company Hmood Al Ali Al Khalaf Trading and Transportation. The contract is to convert a 2,300 TEU container ship into a livestock carrier in line with state-of-the-art technical specifications.

Singapore-based Drydocks World - Southeast Asia (DDW-SEA), a subsidiary of Drydocks World in Dubai, has secured a newbuilding contract with Scottish Highlands International, a subsidiary of Coastline Maritime, to construct a 210m ultra large multi-purpose offshore construction vessel (OCV).
