Among the 2026 PFF Conference (8-10th December, Hamburg) Supporter’s many activities to help members manage risk in a changing world, the association also acts to support seafarers globally and recently produced Fair Seas, a short film designed to highlight the reality of their lives.
On its release in March 2026 BIMCO President Paul Pathy sent an article to the CEOs of all member companies and organisations. He wrote: “Events in the Middle East are once again reminding the world of a fundamental truth: global supply chains are not abstract systems. They are physical, exposed, and deeply intertwined with the wider world economy.
“Shipping sits at the centre of this system. Sadly, our seafarers are once again caught at the intersection of global politics and global commerce. They keep trade moving in times of stability – and they do so again when conditions deteriorate. Yet too often, they remain invisible until something goes wrong.
“This is not new for us. And at moments like this, there is no better time to remind the world of a simple reality: shipping underpins the global economy, and seafarers make it possible.”
Pathy added that the Fair Seas film was designed to humanise seafarers and bring their reality into clearer focus, putting a human face to global trade and showing the pride, resilience and professionalism of those who keep the world supplied.
BIMCO is a valued Supporter of the 47th Propulsion and Future Fuels Conference in Hamburg 8-10 December 2026, and its Deputy Secretary General Lars Robert Pedersen will once again be Chairman of the prestigious gathering.
