Japan Renews Salvage Tug Capacity

Running counter to recent years’ waning investment worldwide in dedicated, ocean-going salvage tugs, a powerful new vessel is set to strengthen Japanese capabilities this year. Launched in January from the Shimonoseki yard of Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, the 81m Koyo Maru will become the flagship of the Nippon Salvage Company fleet, superseding the 26-year old vessel of the same name.
