Ro-Ro Mode For Banana Trade

A newly-established European venture plans to order a series of con-ro type vessels developed to bring efficiencies in refrigerated cargo transportation. Under the aegis of D4R2 Shipping, the flotilla is targeted at the transatlantic trade in bananas and pineapples from Ecuador and other Latin American sources to the European market.

D4R2 Shipping has been set up by the Danish maritime equity fund Dee4 Capital and Swiss-based Reefer RoRo AG, using a versatile new vessel design concept addressing what are seen as the shortcomings of specialised reefer ships.
