Economics & Transition Finance Manager - Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping
Based in Copenhagen at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, Boudewijn is Economics & Transition Finance Manager focused on the economic impact of policies on shipping companies and marine fuel suppliers. He leads a project, which quantifies an abatement cost curve for alternative fuels to assess alternative fuel supply potential by 2030 under the IMO NZF.
Boudewijn also co-authored a recent paper on reward mechanisms for low-emission energy. It summarizes the set of variables policymakers may consider when designing a reward program, and the trade-offs across size of incentive, fiscal durability, and environmental integrity. A central finding is that subsidies for low-emissions fuels can deliver the cheapest emissions reductions today -or- build the fuel system needed for long run abatement, but a single, undifferentiated policy instrument can’t do both well.
With a Master’s in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and a background in policy, Boudewijn works to advance policymaking that can drive innovation and accelerate the energy transition.
