Wärtsilä is to supply an integrated hybrid propulsion system for a 9,500 DWT bulk carrier under construction at the Royal Bodewes shipyard in the Netherlands for Norwegian shipowner Aasen Shipping

The vessel is the latest in a series of six bulk carriers to feature similar Wärtsilä technology, with the order booked in Q3 2025.

The system combines a Wärtsilä 25 main engine with a hybrid propulsion setup, including a DC hub, 620 kWh battery capacity, and integrated power and energy management systems.
