Feasibility studies focus on Japan-Aus CCS logistics chain
Two separate feasibility studies examining the establishment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain between Australia and Japan are to be undertaken, following the agreement of memorandums of understanding (MoU). In the first, Sumitomo, Toho Gas, and K LINE plans to jointly conduct a feasibility study with Woodside, while the second relates to an agreement between Woodside and Japanese power generation utility KEPCO.

Bi-lobe LCO2 carrier tank design granted AiP by DNV
A 70,000 cbm liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) containment tank developed by Hanwha Ocean for an LCO2 carrier has been awarded an approval in principle (AiP) from DNV at the Gastech 2023 conference in Singapore. The cargo design integrates Hanwha Ocean’s Bi-Lobe cargo hold, a vertical structure that maximises cargo capacity.

DNV has awarded Approval in Principle (AiP) to Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and MISC Berhad (MISC) for their Floating CO2 Storage Unit (FCSU) concept. The studies have already been conducted on a range of vessel types including ro-ro and ro-pax vessels, a drill ship, a container vessel and a gas carrier, according to Wärtsilä Exhaust Treatment.
