Boeckmans to order future-proofed general cargo vessels
Belgium-headquartered ship owner and operator Boeckmans has announced that it is ordering a series of four 5,000 dwt general cargo vessels from Dung Quat shipyard in Vietnam. The diesel-electric vessels are expected to be capable of operating on hydrogen fuel or other alternative fuels in the future, according to an announcement by Boeckmans with project partner, CMB.Tech, the clean fuel subsidiary of CMB.

Deal to develop infrastructure for H2-fuelled tugs for Port of Hamburg
Plans to operate the first tugs on hydrogen in the Port of Hamburg took a step forward in October after tug operator Fairplay Towage signed a memorandum of understanding with energy company Mabanaft Group. ClassNK awards world’s first AiP for H2-fuelled 2-stroke vessel design
ClassNK has issued an Approval in Principle (AiP) for a hydrogen-fuelled multi-purpose vessel using Japan Engine’s (J-ENG) large low-speed two-stroke hydrogen-fuelled engine as a main mover. The AiP is the world’s first for a ship equipped with such a large low-speed two-stroke hydrogen-fuelled engine.
