World’s first H2 RTG crane debuts in LA

The world’s first hydrogen-powered rubber-tyred gantry crane has begun operations at the Port of Los Angeles.

The H2-ZE RTG Transtainer Crane, developed by MITSUI E&S and PACECO with funding from the Japanese New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), began operations at Yusen Terminals on 15 May. 

The pilot project is scheduled to run over the next four years with the crane in operation initially for 16 hours per day.
