NewsDredger Deal Plays To Dutch Strengths
Diesel-electric power using Azipod propulsion units has been specified for a trailing suction hopper dredger booked by Royal IHC in the Netherlands from the Boskalis Group. The contract signals the re-opening of the Krimpen aan den IJssel shipyard, upstream of Rotterdam, which had been temporarily closed last year due to a shrinking orderbook.

Plans to operate the first tugs on hydrogen in the Port of Hamburg took a step forward in October after tug operator Fairplay Towage signed a memorandum of understanding with energy company Mabanaft Group. The MoU commits the two companies to collaborate on the supply of hydrogen to Fairplay’s new tugs in the Port of Hamburg from 2025.
