ABS AiP for SDARI MeOH-fuelled Ultramax design
A methanol-fuelled Ultramax bulker design from Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) was granted Approval in Principle (AIP) by ABS in late 2023. The design for the 65,000 dwt bulk carrier was jointly developed with Lemissoler Navigation Ltd. and was noteworthy as it represented the first such methanol-fuelled design for China’s shipbuilding industry.

Maersk and Port of Yokohama ink methanol supply MoU
A.P. Moller - Maersk (Maersk) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to a potential methanol supply agreement with a Japanese supplier, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, and the municipal authorities responsible for the port of Yokohama in late December. The deal is intended to study ways of supplying methanol and green methanol as marine fuels.
