Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has announced that it will provide a low-speed two-stroke dual-fuel engine capable of operating on ammonia for an ammonia-fuelled medium-sized gas carrier, which will be constructed at Nihon Shipyard. A series of contracts relating to the construction of the 40,000 cbm ammonia carrier were signed in December 2023 by J-ENG, Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. and ship owner Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK).

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has announced that it plans to conduct a programme of main mover replacements for Moss-type LNG carriers within its fleet, substituting low pressure low speed dual-fuel engines for their current steam-turbines.
