Derek Munro is the Director of Divergent Yachting Ltd and has been in the professional Superyacht industry since 1988, starting out as a Captain and Engineer. Derek has sailed and commanded sailing and motor vessels Globally.
Since 2004 Derek has been involved in the construction of 14 New Build projects and consulted on numerous others ranging from 28m up to 140m.
Divergent Yachting Ltd was formed in 2017 at the request of a client to manage his vessel and continues to offer new build owners’ representative services and yacht management services for several vessels both sail and motor.
Since 2021 Derek has been focused on development of nuclear energy for the yacht industry as the project lead for NOxFree.world.
We are the Agents for the Deployable Energy 1Mw Unity Module introduction to the maritime industry. Deployable Energy intend being the first mass produced Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) for use on land and at sea.

In 2018 Derek was awarded the ISS Business Person of the year Award for his work setting up and Chairing Superyacht Charities (www.superyachtcharities.com).This is a voluntary position which runs alongside all other work.
