Exceutive Engineer, Grimaldi Group

Emanuele Della Ragione is a chemical engineer working within the Energy Saving, R&D and Ship Design Department of the Grimaldi Group, where he focuses on sustainability and energy efficiency projects across the company’s fleet.
His work supports the Group’s decarbonisation strategy by promoting the implementation of innovative technologies and the adoption of alternative fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in maritime transport.
He has in-depth expertise in biofuel production technologies and their practical applications on board ships, having spent significant time at sea to monitor vessel operations and assess real-world performance.
This hands-on experience, combined with a strong analytical background, allows him to evaluate the technical feasibility of integrating advanced biofuels such as HVO and FAME into existing marine systems. His work includes assessing fuel performance through statistical analysis methods, studying compatibility with propulsion and fuel handling systems, and ensuring compliance with international environmental and safety regulations.
Emanuele’s multidisciplinary background bridges chemical engineering, naval architecture, and environmental management, providing him with a holistic understanding of how operational, technical, and regulatory factors interact in the path toward maritime decarbonization. He actively collaborates with engine manufacturers, classification societies, and research institutions to validate solutions that combine technical robustness with environmental and economic sustainability.
Driven by curiosity and a strong commitment to innovation, Emanuele aims to contribute to a cleaner, smarter, and more efficient maritime industry, aligning technological progress with the global transition toward sustainability.
