    ABS AiP for SDARI MeOH-fuelled Ultramax design

    A methanol-fuelled Ultramax bulker design from Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) was granted Approval in Principle (AIP) by ABS in late 2023. The design for the 65,000 dwt bulk carrier was jointly developed with Lemissoler Navigation Ltd. and was noteworthy as it represented the first such methanol-fuelled design for China’s shipbuilding industry.

    ABS to collaborate in Korean H2-fuel cell vessel design project

    ABS has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korea Hydrogen Industry Association (KHIA) and the University of Ulsan, Foundation for Industry Cooperation (UOUFIC) to develop a full-electric vessel design powered by a 350 kW hydrogen fuel cell.
