Digital overhaul for Type C tanks

Lloyd’s Register and HD Hyundai MIPO Dockyard have teamed up to develop digital manufacturing processes for Type C tanks, used for storing pressurised or cryogenic fuels such as LNG and liquefied carbon dioxide

The partnership, running from May 2025 to July 2026, aims to create a streamlined, digitally enabled production system that integrates technologies such as digital twins and smart quality assurance tools into HMD’s manufacturing lines.

LR will provide technical guidance and independently verify the implementation and performance of these systems.
