EC biomethane decision ‘hampers decarbonisation’

The European Commission is now rebooting its project to standardise and harmonise data in ships' reporting

The EC is being urged to include non-EU biomethane and biomethanol-based fuels in the EU’s IT system

The Methanol Institute (MI) and SEA-LNG have warned that the European Commission’s decision to exclude the automatic certification of some alternative fuels will hamper efforts to decarbonise shipping.

MI and SEA-LNG say they are particularly concerned about the potential impacts of these measures on competitiveness and international trade dynamics.
