GTT has received an order from its partner, the Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group, for the tank design of a new LNG carrier on behalf of the leasing entity of the Chinese CSSC Group.
As part of this order, which was received last month, GTT will design the tanks of the vessel which will offer a capacity of 174,000m³.
The LNGC tanks will be fitted with the GTT NO96 L03+ membrane containment system which is said to improve thermomechanical efficiency. The primary and secondary membranes are made of Invar, a 36% nickel-steel alloy measuring 0.7mm in thickness. The primary membrane contains the LNG cargo, while the secondary membrane, identical to the primary, ensures a reported 100% redundancy in case of leakage.
The vessel will be delivered in the first quarter of 2024.
